Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon 091 It's an Outbreak-chu! The Pikachu Valley!!

Starting today, the show is switching timeslot to Sunday at 6pm! Satoshi and the others have gone to the "Pikachu Valley", where lots of Pikachu live. There, they meet a slightly eccentric woman that really loves Pikachu. The Pikachu in the valley come in all shapes and forms, which Satoshi's Pikachu seems to find amusing as well! But then the Rocket Gang shows up and attempt to get all the Pikachu, running completely wild with Mimikkyu's Z-Move! What will happen now?!
Curly-chan, who's played by Nicole Fujita, appears in the episode as well!

Special bonus release: Starting with episode 91 of Pocket Monsters Sun & Moon, the Pokémon anime went from airing Thursdays at 7pm, a timeslot it's held since 1998, to Sundays at 6pm. To commemorate this, model and  well known Pokémon fan Nicole "Nicolun" Fujita has a heavily promoted appearance in the episode as a guest voice actor, and a special video was release on Youtube to advertise both this and the timeslot switch.

  1. Hi everyone. Apologies for the long absence. As you see, we skipped ahead a bit to try to stay a bit more current, and will try to keep up with the current episodes while also filling in the gap between where we last left off.

    3. Hello! I have loved watching through the original Pokemon Indigo League series in Japanese with subtitles! Seeing the show the way it was originally intended with proper translation, no banned episodes, openings and endings, etc. has been such a delight! Will this continue to move forward? I just reached episode 37, and I am worried about running out of episodes. Is there somewhere I can donate to keep these getting released? Possibly at a regular pace?

      Delete
    4. We won't take donations, but we should hopefully be getting back on track before too long. Though I realize we've said that a couple times now.

  5. Welcome back, I missed you guys.

Quick question, why has the font for the subs changed from the font you guys have always used? I thought the old font looked better, so I was just wondering if this is going to be the new font from now on.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ah, sorry. It didn't change, it's just that by accident the reupload didn't have the fonts included in the file, so if you downloaded it during the last day or so, you didn't get them, and your file would just display whatever your default font was. It's been fixed now, so you can redownload if it affected you and you were bothered by it.

    2. That was it, thanks. I've actually followed your group for many years now, and this is the first time I've commented, but I really appreciate all the work your group has done over the years, especially during the XY era, and for subbing all the movies you guys have done. I'm still looking forward to your sub of the 20th movie, so please keep up the amazing work you've done. As a fellow fan translator myself, I know how much time and work goes into doing something like this as a hobby, and I also know the need to take breaks from it. So thanks again, I really do love all the work you do.

  6. Welcome back PM team and thank you for the EP!I had a quick question, now that you have a bit of a backlog with the SM series, are the older episode releases pushed back because of this or do you have a separate translator for those? I ask because I love the work you do here and it would be nice to see some old episodes after the hiatus too (I realize this might sound greedy since your last release was an old ep too, haha).

  7. Thank you, PM, not just for subbing this episode but also for rekindling my interest in the Sun & Moon series. I had lost interest after Episode 90, but now that I have seen your video for Episode 91, I think I will catch up on the episodes that I have missed until now.

  8. In each pixel of a video, there are three color channels: Red (abbreviated R), Green (G), and Blue (B). The number of possible colors that can be formed is determined by the number of bits. Each color channel can have a number of shades that is 2 to the power of the number of bits. In the case of an 8-bit video, each color channel can have 2 ^ 8 = 256 shades (that is, R can have 256 shades of red, G can have 256 shades of green, and B can have 256 shades of blue). The number of possible colors per pixel in an 8-bit video is 256 x 256 x 256 = 256 ^ 3 = 16,777,216 colors.

In the case of a 10-bit video, each color channel can have 2 ^ 10 = 1,024 shades of its respective color, so the number of possible colors per pixel is instead 1,024 ^ 3 = 1,073,741,824 colors (an increase from the number of possible colors in an 8-bit video by a factor of (2 ^ 2) ^ 3 = 4 ^ 3 = 64).

To understand this visually, visit this link:

    http://www.the-working-man.org/2014/12/bit-depth-color-precision-in-raster.html

and look at the very first image showing the available shades from black to white using different numbers of bits. As I mentioned earlier, the number of possible shades is 2 to the power of the number of bits, so 1 bit corresponds to 2 shades, 2 correspond to 4, 3 to 8, 4 to 16, and so on. 2 ^ 16 = 65,536, which is why the divisions along the last horizontal line are imperceptible to the naked human eye.

An important thing to know is that most monitors are limited to displaying videos in 8-bit quality - this means that if you download PM’s 10-bit video, you are unlikely to notice the difference between it and their 8-bit video because your computer will probably compress the 10-bit video to an 8-bit video anyway. So this should naturally lead you to wonder: why are 10-bit videos necessary if their apparently superior quality is imperceptible on most monitors?

One potential issue that you might experience with an 8-bit video can arise during video processing. Imagine that you are editing a frame of an 8-bit video of something that you recorded in real life. If you recorded, for example, the sky, where there are so many minutely different shades of turquoise, the number of colors in the sky could be greater than the number of colors that can be expressed by a pixel in an 8-bit image. If you try to map the colors in the sky to the closest corresponding 8-bit colors, a phenomenon called banding could occur, where the actual colors, which are only slightly different from each other, are rounded so much that they all blend together, which greatly reduces image quality. In 10-bit images, there are so many more colors that can be expressed in a single pixel, so the details of the real world can be captured much better, and the likelihood that banding will occur is substantially reduced.

If you would like to watch a video for reference, I recommend visiting this link:

  14. Now with actual images and video on Gen 8, it's really set in how this will be the last year of the Sun and Moon anime. It's a bit hard to accept. I know there's still about nine months left. Still, we're in the final stretch. This has been arguably the best soft reboot of the series. It's so full of charm and character. I'm going to miss it when it's over.

    1. You need to download and install a torrent client, such as utorrent or bitorrent. then download the torrent file for whatever episode you want to watch, and open it using the torrent client software. The program will download it to your computer where it can then be played like any other video file. In case this explanation was still not enough to get you going, why don't you try searching youtube for a video that does a better job of explaining the process. Try using (torrent how to) as your search keywords. Good Luck!

  28. Hey. I don't really know the best place to post this but I lost the Best Wishes episodes I had downloaded from all those years back and I tried to download the batch torrent and as expected there aren't any seeds. Any chance of this getting reseeded for 720p?

    3. And this is the 720p torrent? Can't really tell you anything more than that it is seeded. I just tested it, and the files download fine for me. Try stopping the torrent, do a forced recheck, then start it up again.

    4. Okay. I've been torrenting for a very long time so I'm just confused why it's been doing that if there are seeds but thank you for looking into it.
