ReplyDeleteI think the animation is actually better. The old one wasn't bad but the character design made everything look too stiff and hard. This new one makes them look more stretchy and squatchy... as animation should be.

We made an exception for the Z-Moves' names since most of them have English names, all of them have very different names in other languages, their names are actually written on-screen, and it's easy to tell which move is which anyway
DeleteAs for other moves, the extreme majority of them do have the same name in English and Japanese anyway.
But there are some moves that have very different translations, for example Rougela's move is Akuma no Kiss in Japanese and Lovely Kiss in English. That's two different meanings. And at least write for those that have different names, like flamethrower and flame emission are quite similar, but as I said above, Devil's kiss is not Lovely Kiss at all
DeleteJust because you read on the Internet that Flamethrower's Japanese name "more accurately" translates to "flame emission" doesn't mean that's actually true.

ReplyDeleteCorrect. 1 hour specials always just have the opening theme at the start of the special and the ending theme at the end of it.
DeleteI'm disappointed with how Ash turned from being the cool kid from one episode and in the next he is dorky youngster. Maybe he will mature a at least a little bit as time goes by, hopefully.

ReplyDeleteAnimation is really fluid in nice, thanks for subbing this. Might actually be a Pokemon anime I'll watch for once. I'll give it another few episodes. If nothing else, the first episode proved to be good for slapstick laffs.
